Do you have a preference? Do you like to be near the front of the aircraft middle or rear? Do you splurge on upgrades, or fly the cheapest possible and spend money on other things.

Are there really differences in seat location? Economy or main cabin, business or comfort class, first class. How do you know which seat to choose? Some airlines have cheaper fares and seats are selected at the gate or like Southwest its open seating.
Several factors go into choosing a seat, distance, who you are travelling with, safety, cost, legroom, quick exit, sleeping, storage for a carry on,
For our family, we typically sit in comfort class/comfort plus or pray for an upgrade to first class. Our flights are usually over 1000 miles and legroom is important.
I like the website SEAT GURU https://www.seatguru.com/ for my flight next week, we are using miles and flying from Portland to Honolulu.

this website is great to determining seats that don’t have a window, don’t recline, or give the most legroom. They will also indicate entertainment options, if there is video, AC power and if food will be offered.
Flying home we will be on

Its 6 hours each way to Hawaii, in my opinion choosing a seat it pretty important. You don’t want to be in a middle seat for that long or if you need to use the restroom; sitting at the window

this is a great You Tube video on the Hawaiian airlines first class cabin
Here is the comfort class video on Alaska airlines
In another post I will talk about airline status that helps with free upgrades and getting the seats you prefer.
Just FYI my mom doesn’t sit on the aisle that often because her neck is fragile and she doesn’t want to get bumped by luggage going in and out of the overhead bin. But my brother loves the aisle. I prefer the window. if I a have a short connection to my next flight I will sit as close to the front as possible. These are just my tips/tricks. I am sure you have some of your own.
Cheers ~Kristi
