All things Packing

Next week we leave for Oahu. It will be sunny days full of pools, beaches and friends. We are travelling for 8 days total but really don’t need a lot in terms of outfits. The Hawaii vibe is so casual and comfy. Below I will show some tips that I have found to make travelling easier…..

Packing cubes. Total Game changer!

my friend DarrylAnn Denner from Instagram swears these compression cubes are the best. I haven’t tried them yet. But I do love cubes in general.

I have used these cubes above and love them! https://www.amazon.com/TravelWise-Packing-Cubes-Navy-Airplanes/dp/B093CG8PS4/ref=sr_1_18_sspa?keywords=packing+cubes&qid=1661110747&sr=8-18-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExSFpENFBRQkY5TDFEJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTcyOTI3MUQwNERCNFI3NVZTMiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDQwMDM3M1YwQ0paTjBHQVMyVCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX210ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

I love how much they hold, I fill the two large ones and put them on one side of my roller bag. I put all my dresses in one, swimsuits and shorts-tshirts in the other. Then a smaller with anything else. Then when I arrive at the hotel I only have a little to unpack for the dresser or closet.

Next hot topic is luggage! Im sure you would agree that airlines are hard on luggage, we’ve probably all seen them throw the bags onto the conveyor belt or in the bottom of the aircraft. I have decided that hard side roller bags are the best to ensure my clothing makes it in one piece to my destination. TJ MAXX and Ross both have great selections of bags

I look for a bag that is expandable in case you find some treasures during your adventure. Spinner wheels and a bag that has an easy to use handle. I also prefer a bag that is any color than Black. Colored bags are much easier to identify at baggage claim. I also suggest taking not your largest bag, but instead a 25 or 26 inch instead. This was you will likely not incur bag overage fees, some airlines charge up to $100 for overweight bags.
Both these bags are on amazon. Here are a few other choices…

I do check my luggage. When flying Alaska and holding the Bank of America credit card I get 6 bags free. Other passengers are charged $50/bag. My brother lives and dies by his carry-on.

This suitcase only weighs 7 lbs when empty. He has flown over 1 million miles with it. That’s a great track record.

Travels blogs now are showing photo after photo of bags left in airport internationally. If you have a short connection or travelling abroad, make sure you have a clear label with your email, address and phone number on the outside and the inside. And in the event your bags get lost most credit cards have $1000 reimbursement available for your trip.

These were my cubes for a 2 week trip 10 dresses 4 swimsuits,
some shorts/tshirts/essentials

Try them out and let me know what you think!

Cheers ~ Kristi

I love packing cubes, just roll up my clothes and away I go! I just put the cubes directly in the dresser, for pants, etc. Only hang up shirts.
