Our family starting going to Maui over 20 years ago. My brothers in laws had a time share so my folks tried out a week. They stayed at the Alii. An exclusive private resort where the units start to sell for 1.4 mil. (wrong way to start condo vacationing, right?) They invested in a week of a timeshare at the https://www.marriottvacationclub.com/vacation-resorts/hnmmh-marriotts-maui-ocean-club/
This resort has a Starbucks, pizza/snack bar, full service restaurant and condos ranging from studios to 3 bedrooms. Several pools and spas, a kids club, bocce court, shops, spa, adjacent golf course, pool bar, and more.
We also like to stay at the https://www.vistana.com/destinations/the-westin-kaanapali-ocean-resort-villas-north/overview. This resort has similar amenities its just down the road. Villas are large ranging from studios to 2 bedrooms/2 bathroom. There is a great food truck/bar, Aunties next door for breakfast, a store that has a Starbucks and others food items. There is a separate pool area for kids with a pirate ship and several family pools and spas. Chairs are abundant and so are cabanas. You can rent loungers/umbrellas at the beach and the staff will set them up for you. We spend the most time at the resort and often will share weeks with friends when we have extra. Weeks start around $2000-3500 depending on room size. They have free parking and amazing sunsets. There are several Facebook groups where timeshare owners will rent out their weeks they are unable to use. Also I’ll share more about a website called, redweek.com. Its a great, safe place to find unused weeks.

A few other highlights. If you are able to go during whale season I highly recommend a whale watching tour. Our favorite small company is https://www.makaiadventures.com/. They only have 15-20 people on board, their biologists are amazing at finding whales and really take time to educate on the whale habitat. If you are looking for a larger catamaran style experience several leave right from the Whalers village.

I will do a whole dining post for Maui, but quick tips. If you want an experience book a rooftop reservation at https://www.fleetwoodsonfrontst.com/. Its owned by Mic Fleetwood, they have live music and an amazing happy hour on their rooftop deck.
We have always loved https://www.kimosmaui.com/menus/dinner/ for their fish tacos and great drinks. https://www.lahainafishco.com/menu/ also has a great rooftop dining room, and tasty fresh catch. Our favorite Maui fish spot is https://paiafishmarket.com/. They have picnic tables outside but don’t let them scare you away. Its fresh, its tasty, and you will want to go back.
A hidden gem at the end of Front street is https://www.bettysbeachcafe.com/ its right on the water! They have an amazing breakfast menu, cheap happy hour drinks and great TVs if you want to watch some football. You might even see a bit of a luau and one is right next door. Try this one if you want to get a good local view and a great burger.
I have much more to share… more neighborhoods.. more photos.. and maui memories to come.
Cheers ~Kristi
