If you are anything like me, you love Costco. I mean who doesn’t. Quality, no hassle customer service, and a large selection. Their travel site is amazing as well. I love to put together packages on their site and do some comparison shopping.
In our last post we found 7 days in Hawaii using a companion ticket for 577pp. We still need to secure lodging and a rental car. Our preferred island is Maui and we like the Kaanapali area. We love big resorts with amenities, kitchens, lots of pool choices and access to great beaches. We stay at Marriott Ocean club, Westin Kaanapali North villas or when we splurge, the Alii. These resorts have it all! I feel safest there and I know that whatever age you are traveling with there will be things to keep them busy. This Costco example is near Westin Kaanapali North villas, its a little more budget friendly and I recommend it quite often. Aston At Papkea Resort.

This package includes two RT airplane tickets from Pullman to Maui, a studio at Papakea for 7 nites and a full size rental car. Total at costcotravel.com is $4842.24.
To compare I found on VRBO a one bedroom, ground floor for 2708.56 for the 7 nites. On Costco travel I was able to find a full size Camry for 741.00 for 7 days.
Let’s do the math
Alaska airlines companion ticket $1154 + 2708 + 741 = 4603.00 pretty close to the Costco pricing. I have definitely learned to book cars on costcotravel.com then keep shopping them every so often. They will have 30-40% off and you will be able to get a better deal if you keep looking.
In our situation we don’t need housing as we have timeshares already booked. So we shop for the best deals in rental cars and flights. More to come on time shares, buying, and renting……

Cheers, ~ Kristi
